Alliance for Learning becomes regional Hub for TSST

Altrincham Grammar School for Girls is delighted to report that the teaching school ‘The Alliance for Learning’ has been appointed as regional lead school for Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) across Lancashire and West Yorkshire. The TSST programme is designed to support new teachers in certain subject areas and improve the subject knowledge of non-specialist teachers and returning teachers.

The Alliance for Learning Teaching School has successfully run secondary TSST programme for the past three years, resulting in over 50 non-specialist maths teachers demonstrating skill and confidence in teaching mathematics. As the regional lead, the teaching school is responsible for coordination and development of TSST provision in its region to support the teaching of maths, physics, MFL and core maths through 16 other teaching school alliances. This exciting opportunity should enable schools to impact on young people across the region and support teachers in their own professional development.

Details of the AGGS Maths TSST course can be found here: https://www.training.bright-futures.co.uk/cpd/teaching-and-learning/tsst/

This latest news comes just after the teaching school became a Women in Education Leadership Hub, and led a huge Mental Health Pilot across the whole of Greater Manchester.

Lisa Fathers, Director of Teaching School & Partnerships says: “A genuine belief in the power of collaboration and partnerships is at the heart of our success; we think schools are better together and we enjoy wonderful partnerships with many other Teaching Schools. The TSST programme has been extremely successful so far and we are pleased to be taking on this more strategic role.”
