Assessment For Learning Project
The Alliance for Learning is working in collaboration with the Atticus Alliance to explore options for assessment in the new National Curriculum. The Department for Education announced in 2013 that the current system of Key Stage Levels will be removed and not replaced. Nationally, Teaching School alliances are researching possible alternatives.
A number of possibilities have been suggested, including using the new GCSE grading system from year 7 or earlier or moving to a system of competence statements that allows teachers to describe pupil progress at any point in the school year.
This exciting project will be developed further in a North West conference, taking place at the Alliance for Learning lead school, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, on 16th May. The results of this conference will be posted here on the Alliance website.
